
Cooling Water Treatment
Cooling circuits are used in many different industrial branches throughout the world. The cooling water in each circuit has to be treated. Here, two main requirements are given: The use of cooling water should be diminished and the protection of the entire plant against corrosion, sediments and biologic growth should be increased. Requirements
Two main requirements are given to operate cooling towers as efficiently as possible:
- Reduction of cooling water consumption
- Protection of entire plant against corrosion, sediments and biologic growth
These two requirements are, however, contradictory. Fresh water consumption can be avoided by increasing the thixotropy in the circuit water with a desalination control device. However, the number of water contents increases so that the components of the cooling tower, the chiller and the tubings are strongly affected.

The protection of the plant can be ensured with the dosing of inhibitors and biocides as well as the use of filters.
