The ProMinent Group, a global supplier of water treatment solutions, is exhibiting at this year’s IFAT. The slogan "We control it" illustrates that ProMinent develops and manufactures more than "just" metering pumps.

The enjoyment of swimming in swimming pools can often be marred by an intensive “chlorine odour“, irritated eyes and mucous membranes. These unpleasant side-effects are caused by the use of chlorine for disinfection, which produces unwanted by-products, such as chloramines.
In the chemical industry, caustic or aggressive substances can be released to the environment despite exacting safety requirements. For one, this is due to the fact that systems, which offer additional protection in case of failure, are typically only offered for an extra charge. ProMinent closes this safety gap with its motor metering pumps of the Sigma series.
Requirements on the quality of water above all depend on the application. Depending on the purpose of use and application of water, the raw water is to be treated correspondingly. Chlorine dioxide has long been known as disinfectant in drinking water treatment and is now also increasingly used for oxidation and disinfection of polluted waters such as industrial, process, and cooling water. The chlorine concentrations prescribed by EU directives can be met by using the corresponding measuring and control technology.
ProMinent supplements its pump portfolio by peristaltic pumps for low, medium, and high outputs. They are characterised by their simple functional principle and their compact, robust design. The Heidelberg-based manufacturer will present the peristaltic pumps of the DULCOflex series for the first time at the ACHEMA in Hall 8, Stand D2-E6.
On the oil platforms, it is every centimetre, which can be saved, that counts. The smaller the systems and aggregates, the better. ProMinent meets these requirements and presents the TriPower MF on the occasion of the ACHEMA 2009. The TriPower MF is a process pump offering high performance with smallest footprint. An integrated gearbox guarantees an extremely compact design. As compared to conventional designs, the pump requires considerable less space.
Diaphragm filtration ensures an efficient and at the same time environmentally friendly water treatment which manages almost without any chemicals. Depending on the individual tasks, ProMaqua offers the optimal solution for the removal of particles and salts ensuring lowest operating costs. The Heidelberg-based manufacturer will show at the ACHEMA in Hall 8, Stand D2-E6, how the reverse osmosis system Dulcosmose ecoPro provides desalinated water in cooling water treatment.
With newly developed electronics, ProMinent will be presenting for the first time its redesigned Beta/ 4 and Beta/ 5 solenoid metering pump at the ACHEMA trade fair. The almost wear-free Beta pump with all the necessary adjustment and control functions is suitable for universal use in modern water treatment and chemical feed applications. Its efficient operating principle means lower energy and chemical costs.
Corrosion, deposits and biofilms in cooling circuits can significantly reduce the efficiency of heat exchangers. The consumption of cooling water and thus also the operating costs increase dramatically. ProMinent will demonstrate at the ACHEMA in Hall 8, Stand D2-E6, how this can be prevented.
Providing safe drinking water is a major global challenge. For the first time, the Disinfection Controller combines a measurement and control unit with sensors and actuators in drinking water treatment applications. Natural water resources that can be used as drinking water without any additional treatment are extremely limited. By implementing suitable processes, ProMinent is committed to providing quality drinking water from existing water resources.
Even highly resistant stainless steels may be subjected to rust in aggressive, salty water. As a material for cooling circuits, stainless steels are in widespread use in many sectors of industry throughout the world. Corrosion and biofilms can cause major damage and unforeseeable failure.
Polymers are used as flocculants in a wide variety of applications. They are used in applications where colloidal solids must be economically separated from liquids. Using polymers, very high separation rates, high dewatering and economic throughput rates can be, for example, achieved in automatic sludge dewatering.
The precise metering of antiscalants in reverse osmosis systems makes high demands on the required metering systems. Above all when it comes to the very precise and continuous metering of smallest quantities into the diaphragm. ProMinent will demonstrate at the ACHEMA in Hall 8, Stand D2-E6, how smallest quantities can be metered precisely and reliably. The controlled solenoid drive of the diaphragm metering pump delta can be set to smallest quantities of approx. 6 ml/h at pressures of up to 25 bar.bis zu 25 bar einstellen.
DULCOMETER® measuring and control units by ProMinent offer maximum process reliability with a broad application spectrum. Different measured variables can be accurately determined. Depending on the application, the control behaviour of the measuring and control units are adapted to fit the relevant application. At the ACHEMA in Hall 8, Stand D2-E6, ProMinent presents the flexibility of its new measuring and control unit type D1Cb.
Microbiological contaminations by algae, fungi, germs and bacteria are to be prevented in systems for the production of hot water similar to drinking water. When disinfecting with chlorine, the new ProMinent chlorine sensors can continuously monitor “free chlorine” in hot water circuits of up to 70 °C at up to 8 bar. As compared to conventional systems, this becomes possible by returning the media to the process line.
ProMaqua present at ACHEMA a completely new reactor concept, that guarantees chlorine dioxide is produced and metered in an innovative process. High-Resistant PVDF is used for the first time instead of PVC that, to date, has been in widespread use in this sector. This new development contributes to higher operational reliability and improved purity of the chlorine dioxide produced.
