Desalination Control

With the evaporation in the cooling tower on the one hand the required cooling effect is generated, and on the other the remaining circulation water is concentrated.

The upper limits of the cycles of concentration must not exceed a value fixed for the cooling tower. By opening the desalting valve, the circulation water is drained from the system and replaced by fresh makeup water through the level control of the cooling tower.

As, with increasing concentration, the conductivity of the circulation water increases, as well, conductivity measurement is consulted for the measurement of the salting. A special desalting control unit is used for controlling the desalination. A temperature-compensated, conductivity probe continuously measures the conductivity in the circulation water of the cooling tower. The desalting valve is regulated via the output of the cooling tower control.

The desalination may be regulated comfortably with the ProMinent Cool-Control unit. The conductivity sensor (inductive or conductive) and the desalination valve are connected to the Cool-Control. After determination of the desalination limit values (upper and lower value) the regulation is effected automatically.
